Fix: Google Photos not uploading photos in Android

Google Photos is probably your option when it comes to backing up your photos. But what happens if the application just stops uploading photos to the server? This can lead to a valuable photo being accidentally deleted and lost forever.

But even if Google Photos stops uploading photos, there’s no reason to panic. Try some of the solutions below and hopefully you can solve the problem.

Table of contents :

  1. Make sure synchronization is enabled
  2. Check the connection
  3. Delete Cache
  4. Updating applications
  5. Memory check
  6. Reinstalling the application

Solution 1 – Make sure synchronization is enabled.

The sync function of Google Photos is equally important for uploading and downloading photos to your Android device. Make sure this inherent feature is enabled before proceeding with other solutions. Here’s how:

  1. Open Google Photos.
  2. Go to Settings > Backup & Sync.

  1. Make sure the Backup and Sync feature is enabled.

Solution 2 – Check theconnection.

If your internet connection is not stable, you may not be able to upload your photos to the cloud, especially if they are large files. So make sure you are connected to the internet. If you are experiencing problems, read this article to find more solutions.

In addition, Google Photos is not automatically set to upload photos when you use mobile data. This is obviously not recommended due to possible data overload, but if you wish to enable this option, simply do the following

  1. Open Google Photos.
  2. Go to Settings > Backup & Sync.

  1. Change the photos and/or videos under Backup mobile data.

Solution 3 – Clear cache

Clearing the application (and data) cache is one of the oldest tricks in the book. Sure, it falls into the category of generic solutions, but it may solve the problem, so you should try it anyway.

Here’s how to clear the Google Photos cache in Android :

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Go to Apps or Apps Manager (depending on your phone).
  3. Search photos.
  4. Memory of the mouthpiece.
  5. Click Clear Cache.

  1. If clearing the cache does not solve the problem, you can go back and clear the memory (data). Remember that this completely resets the application and you will need to reconfigure it.

Solution 4 – Application update

It is possible that the startup problem is actually a general problem caused by an error in the code. If this is indeed the case, Google will probably come up with a corrective update soon. So make sure all your applications are up to date, and the problem may solve itself.

Solution 5 – Memory check

By default, Google lets you store an unlimited number of photos and videos in Photos, but at the expense of quality. When you set up the backup, you can choose to download as many photos as you want, but in high quality, or you can keep the original quality but use only 12 GB of storage.

If you choose to upload your photos at their original size, your storage space may run out faster than you think. If this is the case, you have two options. You can purchase additional storage or upgrade to high-quality photo downloads.

If you want to buy additional storage, visit the Google Storage page to see how much storage you’re using and what your plans are for buying additional units.

However, if you don’t want to buy extra storage, you can always upgrade to the unlimited option and upload (from the bottom) high quality photos. Don’t worry, the difference is barely noticeable, and you’ll be fine most of the time.

Learn how to resize your uploads in Google Photos:

  1. Open Google Photos.
  2. Go to Settings > Backup & Sync.
  3. Tap the size of the download.

  1. Select High Quality (free unlimited storage).

Solution 6 – Reinstall the application

If none of the above solutions solve the problem, try reinstalling the application. Who knows, maybe it will solve the download problem.

That’s it. We hope that at least one of these solutions has solved the problem of uploading photos and videos to Google Photos. If you have any other questions or comments, please let us know in the comments below.
