Here I explain how to know if someone has blocked you in your iPhone iMessage, Apple’s built-in instant messaging service.
Hello friends, it’s Frankie to give you a tip from iMessage. Now learn how to find out if someone has blocked your number from calling or messaging your iPhone.
Apple Message, also known as iMessage, is an instant messaging service developed by Apple Inc. The service is supported by the Messages app in iOS X and later operating systems.
In February 2012, Apple introduced a new OS X messaging app that would support iMessage and replace iChat.
How do you know if someone has blocked yournumber?
Have you ever sent an iMessage to a friend and gotten no response? Are your friends that careless or have they blocked you on iMessage? It is possible, but even though Apple is one of the leading service companies, it is not always easy to determine the cause.
Here are some tips to help you determine if someone has blocked you in iPhone iMessage.
N.B. If you want to know how to use iMessage, go to the official Apple website.
1. Color of sent iMessage
The iMessages are blue, of course. If you sent a blue iMessage to a friend, it turned green a few minutes later and you didn’t get a reply, you may have been blocked. However, a message cannot define one.
In today’s world, with today’s technology, it’s totally impossible for the iMessage network to be constantly down and sending messages back.
To find out if you’re blocked in iMessage, send regular messages, but if they all go from blue to green, you’re definitely blocked.
2. Status of sent messages
iPhone users enable receipts for their messages in settings. This setting is already enabled by default. So if a message stays blue after sending an iMessage, indicating it was delivered, it was never read, you’re probably stuck.
This trick is not as effective because the user could disable the control read setting.
3. Message status on MacBook and iPhone
It is very easy and simple, just send a message through one of them. Immediately below the iM message, an icon will appear to indicate the delivery. If a friend has blocked you, the icon is not visible. MacBook is also unable to receive or issue a receipt for reading.
This tip is only for people who have both an iPhone and a MacBook.
4. Checking message information
Open the iMessage application on your iPhone. Open a conversation with the person you suspect of blocking you. Confirm the message below the sent message. Check the last message sent to see if there is a receipt underneath. This is the default setting. If not, the recipient may have disconnected you from iMessage.
Also look under the last sent message to see if a notification has been delivered. If you used to get notifications when you sent messages to this person and now you don’t, chances are you’ve been blocked.
5. Call for suspected lockout
Call the person you suspect of blocking you in iMessage. Listen to the reception mode of the call. If the phone rings once and then sends you to voicemail, the person has blocked you.
However, if the call does not ring and goes straight to voicemail, this does not prove that you are blocked. Make a second attempt to see if the results match. If the same results keep repeating, it’s a clear sign that you’re stuck.
Once the call has been sent to voicemail, you can leave a message for the person you blocked. However, the person who blocked you will never receive notification of the message you left. Instead, the message appears at the bottom of voicemail messages, under Blocked Messages.
This is actually a more efficient and reliable way to find out if someone has blocked your number.
Just before the number you think is blocked, dial *67# (this number may be different in your country). Hidden numbers are used to check the status of another phone. When you press the call button, the call is sent to the recipient while your identity remains hidden.
If the call is answered normally, although people often ignore calls from blocked numbers, you are blocked. However, if the call is sent to voicemail after the first call, the number should not be used.
You can use this link to consult the list of country codes. This page contains all codes for every country in the world.
7. Caller ID disabled
On iPhone, tap Settings and then tap Phone. Then click on My Caller ID and deactivate the settings. Call the recipient on the direct line.
If the phone disappears, you’re probably stuck.
8. FaceTime calls
Calls come through normally and seem to be rejected by the receiver. This means the person has blocked you.
This is a quick and efficient way to see if someone has blocked you in iMessage.
9. Site sharing
People who share their location with a suspected blocker via Find My Friends can use this as a clue to block them. If a friend in an iMessage conversation stops sharing a location, it’s a perfect indication that the location is locked.
However, if it says that the location is unavailable, that is no guarantee that you are blocked, as the person may be away from the phone or the phone may be turned off.
10. Check WhatsApp (or Facebook Messenger) twice
Another way to find out if you’re stuck in iMessage is to compare it to other apps like WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger.
In many cases, people who block you in iMessage also block you in other programs. I have a tip to help you verify that your assumption is correct.
Try sending a voice message via WhatsApp (it should only take a few seconds) to the contact you think has blocked you on iMessage. If this voice message is played, it is likely that the contact has blocked you from other services.
Frankie, how do I know if a message has been heard? – Why a voice message and not a text message?
The answer is simple: the trick uses a bug in WhatsApp.
It is very important that you know that there are acknowledgements on WhatsApp. When a person reads or listens to a voice message, two blue check marks appear on the right side of the chat. You can turn off receipts, but if you do, there is no way to know if someone has read the message.
However, there is a mistake here:
When you send a voice message and it is read, blue check marks appear whether this setting is disabled or not. I call this technique the vocal traitor method. You can read more about this method here.
If the person you are talking to has listened to the message but does not reply, you are probably blocked from these services.
You may also want to take a moment to read the article on how to find out if you have been blocked on WhatsApp. It may be useful to show you different methods of cross-checking.
If the person you think has blocked you on iMessage is not using WhatsApp, you can try to find out if they have also blocked you on Facebook Messenger. To help you out, I’ve put together a guide on how to find out if you’re blocked on Facebook. Look at this.
BONUS – Spy add-on for iPhone
Perhaps one of the most reliable ways to find out if someone has decided to block you on their iPhone is to check their actions using an app. One of the best and most used spy apps in the world is mSpy. It is very easy to install this application (even remotely) and get 24/7 technical support.
The app not only lets you know if you are blocked, but also constantly monitors their phone activity. They can read messages from any instant messaging interface (WhatsApp, iMessage, Facebook Messenger, etc.), read their email, see where they’ve been, see new photos taken or uploaded on the phone, and see what incoming and outgoing calls are made from the tracked phone.
Ultimately, you can use this user-friendly app to find out more about a person than he or she is often willing to tell you.
If you want more information on how to install mSpy, I recommend you read my guide: the mSpy step by step guide. You will also find a coupon for the software.
Can the person who blocked you in iMessage see the messages you send?
If someone has blocked you, they will never see the message. This is because blocking normally prevents the transmission of messages. Blocked undelivered messages are not saved, so delivery will be accepted once you are unblocked.
Finally, if someone blocks you in iMessage, you can still receive a notification, but the message will never be read. The text message is sent normally without an error message. In the past, iPhone users could guess the lock. If you send a message and you are blocked, the message is resent.
However, with the new updated operating system, messages are sent with a delivery message even if they are locked, but the message remains blue, but the recipient never reads the messages.
We have reached the end of this manual. I hope the information provided has helped you find answers to your questions.
