Today I bought myself a 27″ IPS monitor, but this is no ordinary monitor. This one has the Freesync feature, which means that when you have an AMD gfx card it will work in sync with your card to prevent screen tearing. This might be my new favorite thing.
The LG 27GL850 was our favorite 1440p gaming monitor for the past few months. It didnâ€™t have any problem hitting 1ms G2G with usable overdrive settings, but then again its IPS LCD panel wasn’t able to offer this speed before either.
Now thanks to improvements made by them in their technology we can say that they produce one of the fastest panels out there and it’s still worth considering if you want an extreme gamer on your shopping list or gift registry.
The LG 27GN750 is a new, fast-panel 1080p IPS monitor. It uses 1ms response time to offer an interesting alternative in the high-end monitors market and it could be really compelling buy thanks to its use of this technology.
What’s Inside The Box? [LG 27GN750 Review]
Now letâ€™s take a look at some of the important response time information, starting with four main overdrive modes. At 240Hz, this IPS panel reveals decent stock numbers for grey to grey responses times in 6ms even though it is faster than most panels with an active blur reduction feature like on-screen menus or quick cuts between video clips during commercials break.
Response Times / Overdrive Modes
The normal mode of the AMD Catalyst drivers manages to improve performance quite nicely over Off with no appreciable increase in overall response time. A 4.42ms grey-to-grey average is good, allowing for 82% percent transitions to fall within a reasonable tolerance zone near refresh cycle lengths (68Hz).
I think this product will satisfy most gamers who want an easy gaming experience but we can do better. In the Fast mode, we get a marginal improvement to 3.79 ms grey-to-grey average with no significant gain in overshoot so this is best for high refresh 240Hz gaming and 1080p resolution IPS monitors

So we now know that the Fast mode is the best to extract maximum performance at high refresh rates, but which one should you choose? Well, after all this monitor can switch between different modes depending on what game or application youâ€™re using. So it’s important for consistent good gameplay across multiple applications and games with varying screen resolutions too.
The 27GN750’s adaptive sync range is as wide as it can go, so if you want the best performance at any refresh rate or just with single-mode Adaptive Sync handling everything then uses it normally. What about when playing competitive shooters where high frame rates are essential? In this case, using Fast overdrive will be more beneficial because of how quickly they change between frames which makes their response time seem shorter than usual by comparison.
The 27GN750 is a fast and powerful panel, capable of handling high refresh rates. It’s also able to outperform other panels in its class like the Gigabyte Aorus KD25F with an excellent overshoot handling mode that makes it worth having for gamers on 1080p monitors only.
LG’s IPS panel is only slightly faster than the AU Optronics equivalent. However, when looking at the Normal mode with LG monitor versus Fast with MSI Monitor in between these two refresh rates (27Hz-75Hz), there are different strengths for each display: while 5% appears to be gained by using a medium response time but worse overshoot handling on fast mode; this might not seem like much difference if you’re comparing them side by side or up close where every little count! At higher and lower frequencies respectively though the 27GN750 can come out ahead thanks to its excellent performance across all modes.
What is the best way to get a good idea of what this monitor can do? Well, let’s take a look at its features. There are no wide gamut or HDR capabilities advertised but that doesn’t mean it still delivers when it comes down to content creation and viewing experiences in color spaces like sRGB! Default Color Performance
If you’re interested in creating a more immersive experience that will take your viewers on an emotional journey, then this monitor is perfect for what you need. This is how the 27GN750 performs in terms of default, out-of-the-box performance. Do note that for this review and all future reviews we are switching to a new delta formula: dE ITP instead of dE 2000 because it’s been proven as a more sensitive metric with modern displays like those having wide color gamuts.
This was really exciting research! The first thing I did was test their accuracy by comparing results between two different spectrophotometers (a light meter used to measure colors). They came back at less than 2% difference which means they’re pretty reliable when measuring across similar spaces perfect if you need continuous readings or just want an overall idea about what settings might work best for your environment.
With the right adjustment, our display was pristinely accurate out of the box. In short, we had a slight pink tone but nothing too unusual about it and even though there are some issues with gamma as you can see in our average curve (just below) this leads to high deltaE values only present when viewing greyscale images which aren’t something most people will notice at all since they’re primarily interested in color content instead.
OSD Tweaked Performance
LG 27GN750 sRGB tested at native resolution, highest refresh rate. With an incorrect white point, these errors continue into our color tests like saturation. A dE of 9.35 is quite high using the new ITP metric but even under the old formula we still end up with an average performance for gaming displays nothing much new here either.

Though it might be a challenge to match the performance of MSI’s 24-inch model, which uses an AU Optronics panel and has responded well enough during our testing.
And though we have yet seen how this will play out in practice with LGâ€™s new super high refresh rate monitorâ€”which is going up against some stiff competition from other brands who offer faster speeds or better quality screens at less cost we can’t wait until these come out.
What makes the LG 27GK950S stand out from other monitors is its rich colors and HDR10 support. It has G-Sync compatibility, but without VESA DisplayHDR certification it’s a pointless feature that won’t benefit anyone who isn’t using an Nvidia or AMD graphics card with this screen.
The new LG UltraFine 5K Monitor is the perfect mix of sleek design and high quality. The IPS display makes for rich colors that are always on point, while still providing wide viewing angles so you donâ€™t have to worry about someone looking too closely when they sit close.
A few red highlights add just enough flair without being too much. More than welcome at its affordable price point considering what else there is out there with comparable features. There’s no slowing down this baby either: it packs all types of connectivity including USB Type C which means even more ports than ever before.

One question that tends to bob up when reviewing high refresh monitors like this is: do you really need 240Hz, and is it an upgrade over 144Hz? Having reviewed a few 240Hz monitors lately, weâ€™re becoming more accustomed to the improvements in clarity and motion handling that 240Hz provides over 144Hz, so weâ€™d say there is definitely an improvement. Not as much as the gain from 60 Hz to 144Hz, but playing games on a 240Hz display like this feels extremely responsive and you could even say the same for desktop applications.
You can still hit 200+ FPS at 1080p with a powerful PC, but you’ll need the right tools to do it. Make sure that your computer has enough processing power for games like these if they are what you play most often on this sort of monitor most titles will require more than just an average processor or graphics card (though those things help tool).
The pixel density of this monitor is a bit lower than some others out there, but it still has enough screen space to be usable. The resolution may as well not exist if you’re doing anything other than gaming with such an impressive amount of real estate! 27-inches might sound too large for 1080p though; we think most people will find themselves using their computer at work rather than playing games on monitors especially since refresh rates are so high these days and make everything look buttery smooth anyway.
The 27GN750 is one of the best monitors for competitive gaming at this price range. For an even more impactful experience, we recommend investing in a faster Acer model XF252Q.
