MonsterLabo Tests Its Fanless PC with RTX 3080 and Microsoft Flight Simulator

MonsterLabo has taken its new passively cooled box, The Beast, to new heights with Microsoft Flight Simulator. ISFK worked with the company to develop a fanless system that controls the temperature of the AMD Ryzen 7 3800 XT CPU and NVIDIA RTX 3080 GPU. MonsterLabo tested the game at a resolution of 3440×1440 with Ultra settings. The Beast also comes with an ASUS B550 TUF gaming motherboard and a Seasonic Prime fanless Titanium power supply.

With over 6 pounds of heat sinks, the Beast is an unusual creature. It can dissipate up to 600 W of heat. During tests, the GPU peaks around 75°C and stays between 60°C and 70°C, while the CPU averages between 30°C and 55°C. The frame rate varies between 30 and 48 frames per second. This test pushes the design of the Beast to the limit. Here are pictures of the first prototype with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER, the final version of the housing is in black.

2 huge radiators (3 kg each) cool the electronics passively,

20x6mm heat pipes, 10x per chip. Yes, we know, not bad for a computer!

6x copper heat sinks connected to the 6mm aluminium front and back plate for better heat distribution.

For those who really want to get the most out of it, there are 2 140mm fan slots on the top of the cooler.

Compatible with most Mini-ITX and ATX motherboards.

Graphics cards up to 290 mm after removal of factory cooling

It consumes 400W in passive mode (CPU 150W and GPU 250W) and almost 600W in active (but still quiet) mode (CPU 250W and GPU 320W).

A central anodized power button is located on the front panel. On the left side 2x USB 2.0 and 2x USB 3.1 are available. On the right are the audio/mic ports and a USB-C port, which complete the connection panel.

The rear panel is fully customisable. In standard form, The Beast comes with 1 Ethernet cable port, 6 USB cable ports, 2 USB-C and 4 HDMI or display port cables.

Storage options include up to 4x 3.5 hard drives or 8x 2.5 SSDs, although Monsterlabo doesn’t recommend using hard drives (at all). They are often very noisy, especially in a cabinet without a fan (= 0 dB).
