The Samsung monitors are based on the VA panel which is extremely popular among gamers. It offers high contrast and great viewing angles but it lacks brightness.

However, this model has good lighting and color coverage thanks to its quantum-dot films. We can also find support for AMD’s Freesync technology as well as up to 144 Hz refresh rate with FreeSync activated even in 2D mode. The monitor is equipped with two USB 3.0 ports at the side of the screen along with an HDMI port, DisplayPort 1.2a, DVI, and VGA connector.

Our Verdict [Samsung Odyssey G7 Review]

  • Size 32″
  • Resolution 2560×1440
  • Max Refresh Rate 240 Hz
  • Pixel Type VA
  • Variable Refresh Rate FreeSync

The Samsung Odyssey G7 is a versatile monitor with amazing gaming performance that’s available either in the 27 or 32-inch size. It has a fast 240Hz refresh rate and supports FreeSync variable rates (VRR) technology, which makes it more compatible with VR headsets like Oculus Rift. Its picture quality also boasts a good contrast ratio, color accuracy out of the box plus great colors overall onscreen thanks to its wide gamut capabilities.

Mixed Usage

The Samsung Odyssey G7 is a great monitor for gaming, and it’s also good if you want to create content or just watch movies. It has an amazing 240Hz refresh rate that makes games look really smooth, excellent response time so animations are always crisp when they should be without any lag time between presses of buttons on your controller (I can’t believe how fast this thing is feels!).

Plus there’s FreeSync support too which ensures no tearing in visual output regardless of what graphics card/GPU someone uses. The narrow viewing angles mean coworkers might not enjoy sharing screens with each other but thankfully we’ve got plenty else going strong here like deep blacks thanks to its rich color.

Pros & Cons

  • you can experience buttery smooth gameplay without any screen tearing or picture dissolves.

  • Doesn’t get very bright in HDR.

  • Curved
  • Curve Radius 1000R
  • Weight (without stand) 11.0 lbs (5.0 kg)
  • Weight (with stand) 15.0 lbs (6.8 kg)

The Samsung Odyssey G7 is a stylish, modern-looking gaming monitor with an aggressive curve. Its body is all black and features controllable RGB lighting on the bottom bezel or ring that you can see in the back if it’s not turned off making this VA model stand out from other standard panel types made by LG 32GN650-B.

  • Width 22.4″ (57.0 cm)
  • Depth 12.0″ (30.6 cm)

The Samsung Odyssey G7 LC32G75T has a V-shaped stand, so you can still place objects in front of it. It’s fairly big and offers good support for its monitor on your desk space as well with some neat tricks up its sleeve.

  • Height Adjustment 4.7″ (12.0 cm)
  • Switch Portrait/Landscape Yes, Clockwise
  • Swivel Range -15° to 15°
  • Tilt Range -15° to 5°

The ergonomics are okay, but it’s not as good as the Samsung CHG70. The Samsung Odyssey G7 has a limited tilt and swivel range, and it switches into portrait mode, which is rare for a curved monitor. If you’re looking for a monitor with better ergonomics, check out the ASUS TUF Gaming VG258QM.

  • Wall Mount VESA 100×100

The back of the Samsung Odyssey G7 27 inch monitor has textured plastic on it and there’s RGB lighting that glows in eight different colors where the stand is attached to this panel. There’s also an opening for headphone players, which makes using your audio even easier.

The whole frame can be VESA-mounted so you won’t need any extra stands or mounting brackets; just plug everything into one convenient location with its cable management system through those nifty slots at either end – keeping things clean while still giving users their pick from two types of the display looks: standard 4:3 ratio screens (the default setting) or 16 x 9 widescreen ratios if they want something more up close personal like gaming systems often use instead.

  • Borders 0.4″ (1.0 cm)

I was relieved to find the Samsung Odyssey G7 didn’t have too large of borders.

  • Thickness (with stand) 11.6″ (29.5 cm)
  • Thickness (without stand) 7.4″ (18.9 cm)

The Samsung Odyssey G7 Review has an aggressive curve that makes it thick and you’ll need a deep desk with space for your keyboard or mouse.

Build Quality

The Samsung Odyssey G7 LC32G75T has a great build quality. It’s made of good quality plastic that feels solid, and the curve isn’t uniform throughout as it seems more curved in the center than at the sides but overall there aren’t any obvious issues with this monitor.

Picture Quality

  • Native Contrast 3,912 : 1
  • Contrast With Local Dimming 3,913: 1

We remeasured the contrast ratio with different equipment, but we obtained very similar results. This means that our measurements are higher than other reviewers have found and even Samsung’s specifications for this display.

We also tried adjusting different settings to see if that made a difference. With ‘Black Equalizer’ at 10, we measured contrast ratios of 3922:1 and 3892:1 when set higher than 6-7 on the GUI menus; however, there was not much change with 12 or 14 Black Level adjustment options available in our unit (these numbers can be seen below). All these tests are consistent across units and given other reviews who found lower contrasts elsewhere.

SDR Peak Brightness

We retested our original findings to make sure that we were testing SDR peak brightness with local dimming turned on. We also re-did the same tests for 7 other monitors, and some of their results changed accordingly. If you want to enjoy the best levels of brightness on your monitor, then go for Samsung’s Odyssey Neo G9.

HDR Peak Brightness

Retesting the peak brightness with local dimming on, we found that this monitor is indeed capable of reaching a maximum light output somewhere around 600 nits. However – due to how quickly it drops at 494 nit as opposed to achieving such high values (and maintaining them) in terms reported by other monitors tested alongside ours- our readings were updated accordingly.

The Samsung Odyssey G7 LC32G75T has an Okay HDR peak brightness. Small highlights are bright enough to stand out a bit, but most scenes aren’t really lit with enough color for content that uses this technology and standard dynamic range (SDR) is sufficient when watching movies on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video in native resolutions without any compression applied.

Horizontal Viewing Angle

The Samsung Odyssey G7 LC32G75T is a great screen, but it’s not perfect. The panel has an average horizontal viewing angle that quickly starts to lose image accuracy as you move off-center which isn’t ideal for sharing your screens with others who want the best picture quality possible.

Vertical Viewing Angle

You may not be able to fix the sub-par viewing angle of this monitor, but there are other options for you! The LG 32GP850-B has better colors and no significant decrease in image quality when viewed from different angles.

Gray Uniformity

This incredible Samsung Odyssey G7 LC32G75T has bright and accurate colors that will please with its excellent gray uniformity. The edges are just a bit darker, but this shouldn’t be noticeable in most content as long as you’re viewing from an angle or close up when it comes to watching TV shows/movies on Netflix.

There is almost no dirty screen effect near the center of your display either which makes reading text much more comfortable than other screens where everything gets emphasized due to proximity effects you won’t have any problems seeing what’s being said even if there was less light available for viewers nearby who were trying hard enough try to spot some visual distractions caused by imperfections.

Black Uniformity

The Samsung Odyssey G7 LC32G75T has okay black uniformity, but without local dimming, the picture looks worse in person than it does on paper. You can see some backlight bleed when viewing this high-exposure photo of a dark room with bright lights behind it.

The display tech for mid-range TVs is getting really good these days – so much so that if someone were looking at specs alone they might think all their needs had been met by manufacturers like Sony or Philips. But let’s say you want something bigger? Well, then there are still deals out there.

Pre Calibration

  • Picture Mode FPS
  • Luminance 312 cd/m²
  • Luminance Settings 100
  • Contrast Setting 75
  • RGB Controls 50-50-50
  • Gamma Setting Mode 1
  • Color Temperature 6,236 K
  • White Balance dE 2.86
  • Color dE 3.08
  • Gamma 2.01

The Samsung Odyssey G7 LC32G75T has good out-of-the-box color accuracy. Most colors and shades of gray are slightly inaccurate, but most people won’t notice this unless they’re really looking for it! The temperature is a bit warm which gives images an orange tint – not great if you want more natural options like blues or greens in your feed though.

Gamma follows what’s called “the curve” rather poorly so scenes will be way too bright during action movies/steep gradients without any real blacks anywhere to reference against; even then things still look washed out because contrast ratios were never meant for 21st-century entertainment features.

Post Calibration

  • Picture Mode Custom
  • Luminance 101 cd/m²
  • Luminance Settings 14
  • Contrast Setting 75
  • RGB Controls 43-46-50
  • Gamma Setting Mode 1
  • Color Temperature 6,431 K
  • White Balance dE 0.60
  • Color dE 0.75
  • Gamma 2.19

After calibration, the Samsung Odyssey G7 LC32G75T has remarkable color accuracy. Any remaining inaccuracies aren’t noticeable without the aid of a colorimeter and gamma follows almost perfectly to SRGB values with just 1% deviation.

After undergoing extensive research into how video games are being played around various platforms including PC’s, consoles, etc., gaming monitors have come out as one category that can provide gamers with an immersive experience by offering them higher-quality graphics due largely in part because they’re able to see more than what is shown on their screens which allows players adapt quicker when reacting during fast-paced gameplay situations.

Image Retention

This is one of the few monitors that doesn’t show any signs of temporary image retention.

  • Screen Finish Matte
  • Total Reflections 4.8%
  • Indirect Reflections 3.2%
  • Calculated Direct Reflections 1.6%

The Samsung Odyssey G7 LC32G75T has a lot going for it, but its poor screen reflectivity will keep you from being able to use the monitor in certain light conditions. The good news is that this shouldn’t affect most consumers since they’ll be using their monitors indoors or near windows more often than those places where quality isn’t as important.

Text Clarity

The Samsung Odyssey G7 LC32G75T is a great 32″ screen with text clarity. With ClearType enabled, I was able to see that the diagonal lines on R and N were more clearly drawn compared to other screens which had this feature turned off (top photo). This goes in line with ViewSonic’s Elite XG270QG model; it too has excellent readability when using typefaces like Helvetica Neue LT Std AA display font size 12 point color space sRGB gamut brand Nintendo Wii u Xbox one ps4. Also known as HDR10+, Dolby Vision TM, etc.

Response Time

  • Best Overdrive Setting Faster
  • Rise / Fall Time 2.8 ms
  • Total Response Time 7.0 ms
  • Overshoot Error 5.5%
  • Dark Rise / Fall Time 5.7 ms
  • Dark Total Response Time 11.5 ms
  • Dark Overshoot Error 3.0%

The Samsung Odyssey G7 LC32G75T has an outstanding response time at its max refresh rate of 240Hz. The motion looks exceptionally smooth and there’s almost no blur, making this monitor perfect for gamers who want to play games without any lag or judder between their movements on screen with high frame rates in mind (120fps).

The recommended overdrive setting is fastest because it only has minimal amounts of artifacts compared to other slower settings like “slow” which can cause more ghosting when looking close up close during dark scenes but still maintains good overall performance even if you’re viewing objects far away instead where color breakup occurs quicker than anticipated since they are hit first before anything else takes place.
